Assurance ~ My 2017 Word

I remember singing Blessed Assurance – Jesus is Mine as a little girl in the little county church my family attended.  I had such assurance that I was safe, loved and all was secure in my little world.

Now, in my 5th decade of life, assurance does not come as easy as it did in my childhood.  The world rumbles uneasy as I have never before experienced, friends question their circumstances and there are fears I continue to face.  I long for assurance that I will be safe, love and secure just as I did as a child.

Searching for a word this year, I looked for a word that would be the opposite of fear.  Assurance came to the forefront. It is an affirming word of promise and confidence.  But that is not what God gave me as I considered this word.

Instead He assures me that I will be safe in His care, I will be loved with an everlasting love by Him alone and I am completely secure in His plan of redemption.  The fear I have can be surrendered to God’s sovereignty – His plan of redeeming the world that He calls me to be part of.

I can rest in His Assurance ….

This is my story, this is my song
Praising my Savior all the day long

Blessed Assurance ~ Jesus is Mine

I am a humble receiver of the saving grace that Christ provided to me through his death and resurrection. My calling is as a wife to Bill, my husband of 34 years, a mother to 3 gifted daughters & 3 fine son-in-laws, and Grammie to my very sweet grandchildren. I love living in our community, spending time with people from all walks of life (I honestly can talk to anyone about anything) , studying and discussing God’s Word and always being with my family. Life and relationships are a gift that I treasure everyday.
