Filling the emptiness in me….

I am still processing and grieving the death of my Mother a little over a month ago.  Most days find me dealing with life just fine and then the awareness that she is gone will wash over me.  I know that this is a normal part of grief and I try to welcome it as part of my healing, so I allow the tears to come and ask my Heaven Father to fill the emptiness in me. As I have…

Treasuring Each Moment of My Daughter's Wedding

I love how each of our daughter’s weddings have reflected their personalities.  So even though, this was our 3rd wedding in as many years, Nic and Audrianna’s wedding reflected their artsy,  creative and fun tastes. Audrianna had a vision for their wedding and she did an amazing job of planning and executing a vintage theme for the day.  She asked Alison, a friend and mentor of hers (and the writer of Stuff and Nonsense Blog) to help coordinate the reception and as you…

A Sweet Weekend..

Another milestone in our family happened this weekend – Audrianna was showered with love, friends and gifts for her future life as the wife of Nic.  It is always so humbling and honoring when your family and friends come together to honor and bless your daughters. The theme of her shower was a Tea Tasting and her bridesmaids worked together to  carry this theme perfectly. There were 3 courses each with 2 different kinds of teas to taste and food paired to…

Continuing to learn this role called Mother

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to my many friends who are Mothers and to everyone who ever had a Mom.   I had a sweet Mother’s Day with 2 of my daughters enjoying a dinner created by my oldest daughter and enjoyed in her home.  I missed seeing my own mother and our middle daughter and grandson on Mother’s Day, but I am thankful for cards that were sent and received, voices that were heard over phones and hearts that were…

Christmas Changes

The last couple of years Christmas has been all about changes.  For years, I could tell you how Christmas would be celebrated at our home… a few days before Christmas, my parents would come, Christmas Eve morning the sisters would exchange gifts (this tradition started because they could not wait to open gifts), Christmas Eve brought church and then a house filled with family and friends for food and celebration.  Christmas day brought more good food, sweet time with our…

She said Yes and They're engaged – it is time for another wedding…

Monday evening, our youngest daughter said yes to marrying her long time boyfriend Nic.  It has been pure pleasure to be part of Nic and Audrianna’s  relationship over the years (they have been dating for 4 1/2 years).  They are a fun couple, who are equally talented and most importantly they love the Lord and are looking forward to serving Him through ministry.  For the third time in the last several years, Bill and I are thanking God for bringing these two together.  As I…

In case you have been wondering where I am…

My  blog has been quiet for a few days … there is much on my mind and on my plate these days.  Lots of hurting people who need a few minutes to share their wounds, 3 wonderful daughters who I am privileged to spend time with on the phone and in person, a great husband who I need as much as he needs me and of course there are the ministries and business that God has called me to. There are…

God's world is a "small world after all"

God’s people are all connected by the unity that comes from knowing Christ as our Savior.  Recently, our family was used as a connection made 6 years ago through our middle daughter’s college freshman’s roommate.  Laryssa wrote about this how God used this connection in her blog… The body of Christ February 12, 2011 in Six years ago this fall, I met and became friends with one of my freshman year roommates, Christie. The following would not have happened if we…

Reflections of my Daughter's Wedding #3

After a wedding come the reception – the party time to celebrate.  When followers of Christ marry, there is much to celebrate.  This couple has established a home of faith that will represent God’s love and grace.  Jason & Alycia’s reception was held at a community park under a perfect picnic shelter – it was perfect just like the weather.  Alycia’s best friend from high school, Tina, did an outstanding job of decorating the large, outdoor space to make it…

Reflections of my daughter's wedding #2

Planning Alycia’s wedding celebration began as soon as the engagement ring was placed on her finger.  A short 6 months after our middle daughter, Laryssa’s wedding, we began the wedding planning process again.  As every parent knows each child is different from one another, the same is true when they begin to plan their wedding.  Alycia’s desire was to have a comfortable, more causal wedding ~ one where people would feel relaxed.  Her wedding week and day was exactly as…
