Filling the emptiness in me….

I am still processing and grieving the death of my Mother a little over a month ago.  Most days find me dealing with life just fine and then the awareness that she is gone will wash over me.  I know that this is a normal part of grief and I try to welcome it as part of my healing, so I allow the tears to come and ask my Heaven Father to fill the emptiness in me. As I have…

Asking for Peace & Rest for Christmas

During Christmas there is always a focus on Peace … An angle declared to the shepherds that the Messiah had been born and a Heavenly Host    praised the Almighty with the words… “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14  And I pray for peace for my mother who is struggling to be free of this world … this morning I woke up longing for peace for her.  I…

Emmanuel – God is with me as my Mother heads Home to Heaven…

Yesterday, I was shopping in the grocery story and one of their signs caught my attention – Celebrating the Simple Joys of the Season.  The Simple Joys of being with those we love and celebrating the constant fact that God is with us always and forever. The simple joy for me these days is that I am with my Mom as she is struggling through her last days on earth – she has cancer that is destroying her earthly body….

Treasuring Each Moment of My Daughter's Wedding

I love how each of our daughter’s weddings have reflected their personalities.  So even though, this was our 3rd wedding in as many years, Nic and Audrianna’s wedding reflected their artsy,  creative and fun tastes. Audrianna had a vision for their wedding and she did an amazing job of planning and executing a vintage theme for the day.  She asked Alison, a friend and mentor of hers (and the writer of Stuff and Nonsense Blog) to help coordinate the reception and as you…

So Blessed …

The last several months has been a very recognizable and blessed time in my life and for our family – definitely providing reminders of how faithful God is.  A trip to the Mexican Riviera, time with my daughter as we got ready for her wedding, sweet time with our  family and then a most memorable, beautiful wedding day for Nic & Audrianna.  How God continues to show His love to me… During the reception, I stood back and looked at the goodness…

Living in the Moment – Not for the Blog

My blog has been quiet because my life has been so full lately.  A while ago, I read a statement on a blog that I really agreed with and I have rewritten for myself…. “my blog lives for me; I don’t live for my blog”.  So I am going to live my life in the moments that God has given and feel very little stress (okay, maybe a little stress) when I don’t update my blog. Lately my life has included…….

No Guilt in Life – No Fear in Death

Yesterday, I sang these words as my soon to be son-in-law lead worship. ” No guilt in Life, No Fear in Death – This is the power of Christ in me.”  There is such freedom in these few words – no guilt, no fear.  In Christ Alone my Hope is found… As we sang these words, the message of Easter was once again confirmed for me and all who claim His gift of gift “For I am His and He…

Your Husband – he is just a man

Yesterday at MOPS, I gave this devotion again.  I was asked to share this message again – a message that I know I need to remind myself often.  I promised the MOPS Moms that I would post it again on my blog and so here it is.  May it be a reminder to all of us, to let God be the one to turn to fulfill our needs, expectations and desires… Believe it or not, your husband is just a man…
