Time Eases All Things ~ 35 years of marriage

On top of our bedroom dresser sit numerous frames with photos of our beloved family.  There is a large framed image from a Mary Engelbreit calendar that was framed by our middle daughter as a gift for a prior anniversary.  It is an image of an older couple swinging on a porch swing as they look at old photos.  The Sophocles’ quote “Time eases all things” is printed on the image. My husband and I celebrated 35 years of marriage on September…

Joseph's success

Defining Success – Joseph’s story

We love successful people – we love their passion, their stories of how they never gave up and pushed through many obstacles to achieve their success.  Typically, when we see successful people it is when they have made it; they are wearing the medal or the crown or the title!  We wish that we were as successful as them. A devotion I did a few years back, has been swirling around in my mind again lately.  It is about Joseph,…

Telling of God’s faithfulness

I have spent the last couple of weeks with my family – our daughters, son-in-laws and grandchildren. Some of the time was spent in our home along with a few days in the mountains of West Virginia. Throughout our time together, I found myself sitting back in utter amazement at the family God has blessed us with.  Each couple is uniquely different and approaches life from their gifting and personality.  Even though there is great love among us – it…

And so we wait

The Saturday between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday is where I live most of my life — waiting. God truly deems waiting as valuable, or at least He must, because He has me (and most of us) in waiting modes most of our lives. The disciples waited in fear behind locked doors.  I have been there many times – waiting in fear. The disciples had to be bewildered as they waited.  It didn’t make sense, because just a week…

Your Husband – he is just a man…

Last week, I spoke at an area MOPS group on the topic of how your husband is just is man.  Every time, I speak on this topic, I can be sure that it is a message that I need hear again (and I did).  I promised the MOPS Moms that I would post it again on my blog and so here it is.  May it be a reminder to all of us, to let God be the one to turn to…

Around our table

Our first table was from my parent’s basement and around it sat 4 folding chairs.  It was just the two of us, learning this relationship called marriage and learning to eat my cooking (my first attempt at gravy turned into a ball).  In our first week of marriage, we had already been dealt a life change diagnose of type 1 diabetes (insulin, needles, meal plans and many tears).  Sitting across from each other, around that basement table a tradition began…

Reintroducing ~ Recognize & Remember Blog

Sometimes it takes a year to respond to God’s calling.  Last year, when WordPress sent me an email with how many had visited this site, I knew I was to revive it, but I “dragged my heels” in doing the work needed to make it happen. I had too much to do with my business, family, new grandbabies and life to revive my blog. But I heard the call again in the Spring and I met with a blog designer,…

Remembering my Dad

It was 2 years ago that my Mother told me that she had a pain in her back and I knew then that her cancer had returned and 6 months later she went to her eternal home .   My Dad and I worked hard to move him close to me to start a new chapter in his life and then the Lord took him home just 8 months later. In 14 months both of my parents were gone from…

Asking for Peace & Rest for Christmas

During Christmas there is always a focus on Peace … An angle declared to the shepherds that the Messiah had been born and a Heavenly Host    praised the Almighty with the words… “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14  And I pray for peace for my mother who is struggling to be free of this world … this morning I woke up longing for peace for her.  I…
