More Grace…

I (with my Bible Study) just finished the Beth Moore Bible Study on James titled Mercy Triumphs. I learned so much from the 5 chapters of James that my head is still taking it all in and will be for awhile.  But my mind has been repeating one verse over and over again … “But He gives us more grace” – James 4:6   More Grace ~ More undeserved favor ~ More Love Just when I think I can’t understand and…

In 2015, may I be reminded that I am Blessed by the Grace of God.

I have been reading with great interest in people’s word/goal/resolutions for the New Year.  In the past, I have been right there with you, picking a scripture for the year and focusing and planning on that given theme (as a matter of fact – my posts on scripture for a new year have been some of my most read blog posts). To be honest with you, I have found myself struggling with a lack of clarity for what I want my year…

Why is it?

Recently I had the priveledge of spending the day with a woman that I have not always been friends with.  We went to the same college together, yet ran in different circles.  We have know each other through different Christian organizations such as the Church, Christian School, etc…, but have never taken the time to really get to know each other.  But through our brokenesses, we recently and cautiously reached out to each other and connected. The day we spent…

A New Start

Today I had the honor of being published on the Hearts at Home blog and sharing the same message with my terrific MOPS Steering Team.  As always, when God provides a message, it is usually more for me than for those who it is shared with. Starting Over Again At the start of the new year, I like to lead devotions at our MOPS/Moms Meetings with this verse… “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish…

Women, Friendships and Thoughts

Since I am quite sure that most of my readers of women (sorry, Bill — I know that you do occasionally read my blog 🙂 ) – I know that every woman reading this has been affected by her relationships with other women.  So often, women’s relationships with each other are full of hurt and pain.  I often tell my daughters that unfortunately, women never really move beyond middle school relationships and it doesn’t matter if you are 12, middle…

Amazing Grace

Today has been one of those days when I have need to extend grace as well as be offered grace.  I have been thinking of the words to Amazing Grace by John Newton most of the day…  Amazing Grace Amazing grace how sweet the sound! That saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see. ~ ‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How…

Starting Over Again

This week, I have had the opportunity to speak as a guest at another local MOPS group and also to lead devotions at our MOPS Steering Meeting.  As the guest speaker, I spoke on The Angry Mother Topic (always a favorite).  At both meetings, I encouraged the Moms with this verse… “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”  Proverbs 14:1 I used this verse to encourage the Moms to start over again this…

My middle daughter is 21 – how did that happened so fast!!

The past several weeks at our house have been filled with celebrations – first my birthday, Easter and this past weekend our middle daughter’s 21st birthday!  Even though this is such a cliche, I can’t believe how fast the time has gone since she was born. Laryssa is such an accomplished young woman; the Lord has gifted her with the ability of being very intelligent, organized and disciplined, which translate into great leadership ability.  She loves children and has been involved in babysitting, teaching and…

Remember the amazement of the empty tomb

The women found the empty tomb – not the disciples, not the guards, not royalty, but the lowly women who loved Christ.  Mary, his mother, Mary Magdalene, Salome, and the other Mary found the tomb empty.  Angels met the women to tell them that “Jesus has risen, He is not here.” Luke 24:6.  Over the past several weeks, I have been pondering what the disciples’ thoughts and emotions might have been during these events.  Those of you who know me, know that I have…

Christ's call to remember during the last supper

In my favorite book of the gospels, Luke, the story of the last supper Jesus had with his disciples is recorded.  Luke 22: 14-20.  The last supper is a familiar story for most of us; Jesus offering the bread and the wine as a representative of his body that was to be offered for our sins.  In my home church, we have the privilege to celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month and on Good Friday.  It is always a humble…
