My Experience at MOPS Conference Reminds Me of…..

This past weekend, I was at the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) International Convention in Kansas City.  I was with one of my  Team Leaders hosting the Mary & Martha booth.  It was such a good time for several reasons…. I love working alongside with my Mary & Martha team and developing Leaders.  Stephanie Kaufman has been a Consultant for 18 months and is now a Team Leader.  She loves the Lord, her husband, family and serves as a labor & delivery…

Leaving a Decade of Ministry

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know that I have  loved serving the MOPS (Mothers of Preschooler’s) Ministry of my church as one of the Mentors .  I absolutely adore the Moms with their young ones,  how they intensely love their children and want to be the best Mom possible for them.  I vividly remember those days in my life,  I needed so much encouragement, especially since I had a preschooler for 14 years. I…

Continuing to learn this role called Mother

Happy Belated Mother’s Day to my many friends who are Mothers and to everyone who ever had a Mom.   I had a sweet Mother’s Day with 2 of my daughters enjoying a dinner created by my oldest daughter and enjoyed in her home.  I missed seeing my own mother and our middle daughter and grandson on Mother’s Day, but I am thankful for cards that were sent and received, voices that were heard over phones and hearts that were…

Oh How Loves Really Is…

Oh How He Loves Us Sign (and a great blog post) can be found at this sweet blog http://www.susieharrisblog.com/2011/10/how-he-loves-us.html Living with our middle daughter and our toddler grandson for a year was both a reminder of my past and a learning experience for me.  Many thing reminded me of my days as a young mother especially the sigh of relief when bedtime came and there was a peaceful, beautiful little boy laying in his crib (why do children always look…

A Letter to a MOPS Mom

Mentoring is a call that I feel every Christian woman has been given.  Titus 2 gives instructions to women … “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so…

The solution for when my thoughts get the best of me…

Last week, I was chatting with a friend that I have not spoken to for a couple of months.  We had a good conversation catching up with each other’s lives, laughing and sharing easily. Yet, after we hung up, my mind started working overtime wondering if there was something wrong since it had been such a long time since we had communicated.  I let my mind wander about a couple of stray comments she made – and before I knew…

No one has the life they expected…

Last week, I gave a MOPS devotions on The Angry Mother.  It is a devotion that I have given in the past and one that always evokes a lot of emotions in myself and in others.  You can read the content for this devotion on a prior blog post titled The Angry Mother – it is one of my most read blogs. After I shared devotions, the Mom’s had a discussion time with their groups.  The questions ranged from “What triggers…

Every Mom has experienced this Woman in the Grocery Store

Our new MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) Ministry year started yesterday which means I started my 10th year as a MOPS Mentor.   Yesterday, as MOPS started again, I was reminded again of wonderful experience that being a Mom is and how I have now become… That Woman in the Grocery Store   As a Mom you’ve experienced that woman in the grocery store,  You know, that one that tells you to treasure every moment of your child’s life because it goes…

Wishing your could fix your child's problems

In the last month, I have had the humbling honor of praying for several dear friends who are hurting with their children.  I have prayed over a hospital bed, sent prayers through emails and just listened as these mothers have shared their pain and tears with me.   The heart of a mother is always connected to her child – when our child is hurting you can be sure the mama is hurting as well. I remember when our oldest daughter  was in…

Loving Your Children – it should be easier

Here is the MOPS devotion that I recently gave… it seemed to touch the hearts of many Moms as they commented on Facebook or at the meeting.  Do you remember when your child was a baby and the overwhelming, deep love you felt for them.  You spent time studying them head to foot, checking out their little fingers, toes, nose and hair.  At that moment, you thought it would be easy to love them every moment of their lives.  But…
