Time Eases All Things ~ 35 years of marriage

On top of our bedroom dresser sit numerous frames with photos of our beloved family.  There is a large framed image from a Mary Engelbreit calendar that was framed by our middle daughter as a gift for a prior anniversary.  It is an image of an older couple swinging on a porch swing as they look at old photos.  The Sophocles’ quote “Time eases all things” is printed on the image. My husband and I celebrated 35 years of marriage on September…

More Grace…

I (with my Bible Study) just finished the Beth Moore Bible Study on James titled Mercy Triumphs. I learned so much from the 5 chapters of James that my head is still taking it all in and will be for awhile.  But my mind has been repeating one verse over and over again … “But He gives us more grace” – James 4:6   More Grace ~ More undeserved favor ~ More Love Just when I think I can’t understand and…

Remembering my Dad

It was 2 years ago that my Mother told me that she had a pain in her back and I knew then that her cancer had returned and 6 months later she went to her eternal home .   My Dad and I worked hard to move him close to me to start a new chapter in his life and then the Lord took him home just 8 months later. In 14 months both of my parents were gone from…

So Blessed …

The last several months has been a very recognizable and blessed time in my life and for our family – definitely providing reminders of how faithful God is.  A trip to the Mexican Riviera, time with my daughter as we got ready for her wedding, sweet time with our  family and then a most memorable, beautiful wedding day for Nic & Audrianna.  How God continues to show His love to me… During the reception, I stood back and looked at the goodness…

Grandpa and his boy

We have enjoyed watching Joey grow and change each day since he was born a little over a year ago.  At 14 months, he loves to be with his Grandpa.  All Bill has to do is to walk into the room (or come home from work) and Joey makes a beeline to him.  Bill is very good to play with Joey and one of their favorite activities is to go out to the garden together. Joey and Grandpa collecting tomatoes…

A tribute to my Valentine…

A Tribute to My Valentine… My Husband Yesterday as I was getting ready for church, I was also  thinking.  Thinking mostly about myself, about  how often I mess up and how unlovable I am when I do.  During this thought process, I thought about my husband, Bill who was also getting ready for church.  My thoughts about him, made me realize just what a strong man he has been to be married to me.  He has endured my thoughtless words spoken before I…

A Week of Thankfulness

On today, Black Friday, I am thankful that ever since our first daughter was born, I have (for the most part), been able to work at home.  Some of those jobs have been working for others; most have been various ways to be self-employed.  Although I have not always made money, I have enjoyed the benefits of being able to be at home with my family and being able to be involved with my church and women.  I am so thankful that…

A Week of thankfulness

I am most thankful for grace – the undeserved gift of  God’s favor. It is kindness from God that I don’t deserve. There is nothing I have done, nor can ever do to earn this favor. It is a gift from God (and gifts are my love language).  My life would look so different if grace was not part of it. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of…

A Week Of Thankfulness

In this new “season” of my life, as  Bill and I embrace (and accept) our empty-nest, I am thankful for the memories that I have treasured of  past Thanksgivings.  Memories of little girls dressed liked pilgrims heading to their 1st grade Thanksgiving feast, of a  Thanksgiving’s Eve Tradition of visiting a Christmas Tree display and picking out new ornaments, of hand printed place cards at our Thanksgiving  table, and of dear family members gathered around the table.  My friends, it has gone…

A Week of Thankfulness

Today, I am thankful for healing.  As my hand bone knits back together, I am also thankful for God’s amazing design of our bodies; His design of equipping us with a body that heals itself  (as well as His design of creating us with 2 hands)  is perfect! As someone who struggles with a chronic illness, I am always thankful when my body functions as God created it too.  When the insulin I inject into my body is the correct…
