“All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: The virgin will be child and will give birth to a son and they will call Him Immanuel – which means “God with us.” Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:22 & 23
God with us – God with me
Since I started blogging in 2007, I have taken time to record the recognizable moments of how I experienced God with me on Christmas Day. This is the 4th in a series titled Ways Immanuel,God was with me, on Christmas Day.
God was with me as I experienced changes in our family’s Christmas traditions. This year, our family was together on Christmas Eve day and evening. I was thankful for our time together as we prepared for our evening meal (after our church’s Christmas Eve service) and enjoyed opening gifts together. I am learning (with the Lord’s help) to adjust to the good changes in our family, but I will admit that I miss the days when our daughter’s were young.
God was with me as Bill and I worked together in the kitchen preparing the turkey and food for the day. I am so thankful for my husband and the way we have learned to work together over the past 29 years. There is a comfort between us that is so comforting. I was thankful that his arms were around me while I shared my heart about the missing my oldest daughter on Christmas Day.
God was with me as I enjoyed my first grandchild’s first Christmas Day. It was fun to have a little one dressed in footie Christmas Pajamas and eating wrapping paper once again.
God was with me as we opened gifts in the afternoon (instead of the morning, we waited until Nic could join us), ate a wonderful meal, visited with dear family friends who stopped by, played games and watched Holiday Inn (one of my personal favorite Christmas movies). And even though, our family traditions are changing as we share our daughters with their husband’s families, my life is blessed. I have a wonderful husband who loves me, daughters and son-in-laws who are walking with the Lord, and a grandson who brings a new legacy to our family. I am so very blessed
God was with me – on Christmas Day as He always is. When Jesus came as a baby – He came as Immanuel, God with us. And ever since, He hasn’t left…
He is with us – He is with me.
How did you recognize that God was with you on Christmas Day – please share.
